Requirements for Classical 黄铜 Instruments

There is no prescreen requirement for Classical 黄铜 instruments.

Prepare ALL of the required audition repertoire for the degree level you are 应用ing to, as listed in the dropdown menu below.
MSM offers in-person 和 recorded final auditions, except for the Doctoral of Musical Arts & Artist Diploma programs, which require an in-person audition.

Undergraduate: Bachelor of Music (BM)
Classical Tenor Trombone:
- Two contrasting etudes showing the applicant’s level of technical 和 musical advancement.
- At least one major solo of the applicant’s choice.
- The following orchestral excerpts:
  
  W.A. Mozart – Requiem, K. 626 (“Tuba mirum”)
  
  Gioachino Rossini – La Gazza Ladra
  
  Maurice Ravel – Bolero
  
  Gustav Mahler – Symphony No. 3: 3 measures after Reh. #13致Reh. #17
- Optional: One additional selection representing your musical interests 和/or a work by a composer from a historically underrepresented racial/ethnic group, 性别, 和/or culture. Works that represent the applicant’s own cultural background are also welcomed.
Classical Trumpet, Horn, Bass Trombone, & 大号:
- At least one major solo from the st和ard solo literature.
- Two contrasting etudes of choice showing the applicant’s level of technical 和 musical advancement.
- Four contrasting orchestral excerpts from st和ard audition repertoire.
- Optional: One additional selection representing your musical interests 和/or a work by a composer from a historically underrepresented racial/ethnic group, 性别, 和/or culture. Works that represent the applicant’s own cultural background are also welcomed.
Master of Music (MM)
Classical Tenor Trombone:
- Two contrasting etudes of choice showing the applicant’s level of technical 和 musical advancement.
- At least one major solo of the applicant’s choice.
- A complete concerto from the st和ard repertoire.
- The following orchestral excerpts:
